Farm Beginnings

Yep, it's been a while since I've really posted. What can I say, having a baby definitely takes a lot of time! She's worth every minute though, and Kenny and I are so happy.

Anyway, here's a bit of an update on our goal for sustainability and local eating this year. We've started lots of plants for our container garden: two different kinds of lettuce, container-size cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, habeneros (Kenny's, haha), carrots, and strawberries. I also have the vendor application for a new farmer's market in town -- and it's only $15 a week! We're pretty excited about that.

Yes, that's a roasting pan. Just shows how meager our beginning!

Here's a flat of strawberries, lettuce, peppers, and carrots. The lettuce is more than ready to be transplanted but we haven't had time this past week. Hopefully over the weekend we'll get it done.

Lettuce that has nothing left to do but finish growing and be eaten! It's doing much better in the big container than the other ones in the flat.

I think you have a valid reason for taking a bit of a break from here, Bri!! Continue to love and enjoy all the moments with little Emma.

And, good luck on growing your own things - we "attempt" it here during the summer - and usually end up with maybe tomatoes that do okay.
